Black and White:
Using black an white within my images will allow me to explore tone and heighten themes of contrast within the image.
Selective colour:
Selective colour is a process which allows for the photographer to manipulate the audience's attention within the image. I can use this within my other photography in order to highlight aspects of the image which I want to convey to the audience.
Photomontage:
In this example, I show how simple examples of photomontage can be applied to an image in order to make an ordinary image appear more dynamic. With the addition of the boat, the image appears symmetrical and much more action filled than the original image of the sea.
Duotone:
This image shows how colour can be used to draw connotations within the audience. For example, the shade of blue used within the image give connotations to clear skies which are also commonly asssociated with the beach location.
Overlay:
This image can be used to create strong imagery with two ordinary images. I show how major themes such as contrast can be introduced using this technique by featuring opposite features such as land and sea.
Weaving:
This technique can be applied in order to present something ordinary in a more visually interesting way than can be seen within an original image.
Multiple Imagery:
This use of multiple imagery shows how movement and small stories can be introduced through a simple set of images. This technique can be applied to journey as progression can be achieved throughout the images, showing the journey of the boat.
Image and text:
This use of image and text can be used to show how words that offer connotations to a theme such as journey can be used to show the subject. In this instance, a famous quote of journey has been used in order to relate to the subject.
Soft focus:
This image, similarly to selective colour can be used to highlight a specific aspect of the image. Soft focus can cause the background of an image to remain obscure while the subject of the image can remain clear.
Image within an image:
This effect of image within an image can be used in order to imply an indication of what people may want. It can be suggested that the person wants to journey to a location that can be seen within the television.
Photojoiner:
Photo joiner is used by people such as Hockney. It can be used to make an ordinary landscape image more visually dynamic and stand out from other forms of photography.
Repetition:
Just like photo joiner, this technique can be used to make an image appear more varied, causing a standard sight to be viewed differently through the use of repetition of this form.
Cluster:
Cluster could be an interesting way to show scenery within journey shoots, giving them a very abstract/artful look.
